Sniffles, sneezes, scratchy sore throats, and colds bug many people this time of year. You have options that do not include over-the-counter and prescribed medicines. Keep it natural.
- Hot lemon juice and water ( 1 lemon in 4 to 6 ozs.) will act as a mild antihistamine and dry you up for a short period of time.
- Need a cough medicine? Add a teaspoonful of honey to the lemon juice.
- Warm Mullein tea (available as an herb at the health food store) will absorb a lot of mucous.
- Warm lemon juice with a pinch of cayenne pepper makes a great gargle for a scratchy or sore throat. Some people like a teaspoon of honey to sweeten it.
Essential oils work well also. The trio of lemon, lavender, and peppermint, rubbed on the feet in the a.m. and p.m., or as a rub on the back of the neck during the day will help break up the congestion. You may just inhale the healing aroma from rubbing it on your hands. We recommend and offer doTerra Essential Oils. Email or call Freda for information and pricing.
And, none of these have the side effects that drugs bring. They usually work as first aid for colds. Try them, if you need them.
