Why Do You Want to be A Loser?

ScalesWe read about struggles, like the Facebook post this morning. “I have been on this diet for two months and I seem to be gaining, not losing!” Picking the right approach to match up to your metabolism may be the answer. But, here’s the other thought, your why may not be strong enough to overcome the inertia of a lifetime of eating. So, why do you want to be a loser?

Gaining control over your weight does not start with a magic number of calories, which can be a false measure to begin with. It also does not start with a list of good foods and bad foods to slather on your plate. Lots of carbs or a few; to add more protein or take some away, and  juicing or eating fruits whole —all of these make good questions, but the answers will not determine your ability to get where you want to go with your body shape or weight. So, why do you want to be a loser?

We grew up at the training table, the one where mom said we must have three square meals every day and dad enforced it. Sometimes there was a mention of starving kids in China or Africa. In elementary school health and PE classes we climbed the Food Pyramid like it was an altar or shrine. Trips to the neighborhood corner store with a friend introduced us to fountain cherry cokes and all sorts of candies. Most of us still live the habits we developed early on, and it all tastes so-o-o-o-o good. So, why do you want to be a loser?

When you’re ready, we will talk about the method that will bring you to the optimum weight for your age, height, and body style. You can take the responsibility to sculpt your body as you have dreamed it. When will you be ready? You’ll be ready when you want to.

ConfettiYour path to success will be sure, but it won’t start with your daily menu and schedule. It will start with what’s in your heart. When you finally face the despair and the fact that you have not been the person you want to be, you will be able to turn it around. When you have a heart change, then you and I will be able to work with what’s in your head. And, when you change your thoughts, you can change your habits more easily than you expect. So, why do you want to be a loser?

pea on forkWe’ll make the diet fit your life, not the other way around. You will not be able to do this alone, so you will need to recruit a friend or share with us as we grow toward health together in the Eat, Drink, and Go Veggie Group. Recruit your physician first. You need to know the strengths and weaknesses of your health, so we can work with it, not against it. It will help if you know what your blood test markers are as you begin, and then you can watch your progress along with your physician. Just tell him, you’re going to improve your body and health the natural way, without pretty pills and magic potions.
